I've been using the Autotrader for the last 15 years or so...my car has sold everytime. Maybe a For Sale sign in the window might help. And I hear people talking about CarMax giving more than most dealerships...if there's one near you. Otherwise, it's pretty much a buyers market as the used car market is flooded thanks to Ford, GM, and and all the other crap that couldn't sell until it was heavily discounted.

Good luck...

I wasted over $100 on cars.com and autotrader.com without attracting a single serious buyer. I posted four good photos and a lengthy description on craigslist.org (FREE), and sold the car easily that way. The second or third person that came to see it bought it. This was in July.

I don't know what you're trying to sell, but it may take a while. It took me 2 months to sell my S2000. Not one phone call for almost 2 months (I started at high book an ended up at low)...then a guy calls, just looked at the car without driving it, and buys it. Remember, it only takes one.

I can recommend CarMax if your car is in good shape. They are pretty picky about what they take in.

I just placed my MINI order last Friday and they offered me the wholesale price ($1500) on my trade in... a low-mileage 1997 Nissan Altima that has been well taken care of and is IMMACULATE inside and out (I'm a car detailing / Zaino freak... have PCDA, will travel). CarMax offered me over twice the dealers offer... only $500 less than the KBB personal sale price.

If I needed to flip the car quick, I would have just sold it then. I'm going to see if I can find a direct buyer to make a bit more and save the taxes (sell the car to the dealer as a trade-in and then they sell to the buyer).

I am trying to sell my MCS. Here is the link.

What is it unatractive, am i asking a bad price?
Also these guys from classyauto.com contacted me about selling it for me. It seems kinda like a realator for your car. What are your thoughts on this.

Another Vote for Craigslist... I had to sell my Audi to buy a Mini and Autotrader was just about useless. All I got were e-mails from people wanting me to ship it to Africa or something like that...

Listed it on Craigslist and sold it within 2 weeks. I am actually delivering the vehicle this weekend.

From my past experience.. Autotrader and Cars.com only attact Scammer.
I sold my last WRX Wagon by posting ad at Autotrader, Cars.com, nasioc.com (Subaru board), and local paper. The person who made the final deal is from the nasioc. So I think there is opportunity for referral from interested group, like NAM.
I think price is very important, adjust it to a realistic price and part out all mod stuff (since 99% buyer don't count any mod).

I have gotten boat loads of scammers from each. All talking about they will take the car and send me like 50,000 dollar of something, then i send the difference to them. What are your thoughts on that classyato.com thing i was talking bout. Just in case they are like realtors but for cars.

I would recommend craigslist also ... things move pretty good on that site.

The price you are asking is not bad ... although for a $1000 more you can get a new loaded S.
