performance versus all-season
performance versus all-season
I'm in the process of getting an order for a new MCS 06 and have a question about the difference betweeen the performance tires verse the all-season tires. What are the differences? I'm in the St. Louis, MO area and had thought the all-season would be best but would like to find out what the differences are before I order them. Essentially the prices is the same so it is just a choice. I just commute to and from work and home on major paved roads so I'm not looking at gravel roads however we do have a mix of driving conditions to include snow and ice during winter.
Thanks,
Thanks,

I'd suggest getting the all season... using them all the time initially, and if you want to upgrade for improved summer/dry handling, by a second set of wheels and tires to use in the spring and summer season....
I agree with LSD. Our car came with the all-season which will work out fine for the upcoming winter (not much snow). After that, I intend to get some summer tires. The all-season tires are really poor for the summer if you get the RFs.
I second that! I made the mistake of doing more than a couple of autoX's with the Euforie summer runflats on my first 2002 car. No problem, I'll just get a set of new wheels and some aggressive (Falken 451) summer performance tires in October. Rhode Island winters are not too bad and the new tires look like they have some bite. Well it didn't work out very well. I couldn't believe how bad the grip was! Sooo when I bought a new 2005, I got all season runflats with the Sports pkg. The idea was to use them only for long trips and winter. Do yourself a favor and get a wheel tire pkg for summer / autox to burn up (not the expensive runflats).
Man St. Louis requires the all seasons I thinkn by law
Seriously having spent some time in the midwest you will regret not getting them. Or just get a set of performance summer tires on the Slites and get a set of 16's with winter tires from Alex at the tire rack.
