Interior/Exterior Hamman bits - Pictures and install advice
Final pics
This morning I took some pictures of the Hamann rear diffuser and front splitter for another NAM member with install questions. Here's a couple shots to show you how the mounting brackets and final look.
My only word of advice is: on the front splitter use expanding foam to fill in the gap on the underside. Otherwise, if/when you accidentally tap the ground coming out of a driveway, etc. the splitter could compress the gap and crack the fiberglass.
Hamann, if you're out there...you might want to beef this up for your future customers.

no doubt bout it!!! when i got my splitter i was totally let down w/its construction, and the mountin' points!! who does that? they R so flimsy that if u hit anything it will fall off it needs reinforcement which is what im workin' on now......but i still like HAMANN bitz there right up my alley...

Don't even get me started on the flimsy construction and mounting hardware for the splitter. When I first installed the splitter, it only lasted 36hours on my car before flying off and smashing all over the freeway. To add insult to injury, CA Highway patrol pulls up behind me (while my car is parked on the side of the freeway and I'm putting the broken pieces in the back of the car) and proceeded to write me a ticket for window tint and non-factory body modifications.
Hamann has some sweet gear, but their customer service sucks. After two months of asking for another splitter or to at least help repair mine, I gave up and took it to a body shop and had it re-painted.
When I re-attached the splitter, I used five grade-5 (super-hard) fine thread bolts and aluminum mounting plates. Basically, you need to take the front-end of my car off to get it off. No more gliding body parts on the freeway.

Alrighty then, here's some pics of the Hamann splitter. Our Cooper has H-Sport springs so the car is already lowered. With the splitter and springs, I have about 3" of ground clearance. I've included two pictures for anyone thinking of putting one of these on their lowered Mini. Also, here's a shot of the foam in the underside gap.
I sprayed the foam in the gap, allowed to dry, cut away the excess with a knife and lightly sanded the dried product. Note: you have to get under the car to see the foam.
Oh, in case anyone is wondering why the Euro license plate is blurry, we have a photo deflector lense. <evil cackle> Here's a fun site to play around on: http://www.jammersstore.com/p_photo_blocker_covers.htm Cheers.

The first time I put the splitter on the car, I used all of the Hamann mounting hardware provided (time on Mini= 36 hours). Then, I used the mounting plates provided and upgraded the bolts (time on Mini= 16months).

Actually the thread is about Hamann bits - Pictures and install advice. I assumed the difficulty in making this kit work would compare it to the ease of installation of other body kits in general.
yea ur right but the topic has been more bout the splitters than the body kit.....its not that hard to install it just needs a little tweaking like any other kit would...... i've heard that the kit u refer is not that easy to install but then again its a matter of opinion when it comes to how well u work w/ and around tools!

I hear you brudda

On the up and up I'm still working on putting together the plan for the details on Icarus. Considering he's a cab I'm ruling out him being a true track car. I'll save that for the second MINI. This one will be more show than go.
