Mini Sport Exhaust

I had mine installed after delivery last January. I wanted a better sound from my Mini without having to worry about any warranty issues. I'm very happy with it.

I don't believe I've ever heard of a warranty claim being denied (on something other than the exhaust... ) due to an aftermarket exhaust being installed. The logic would be pretty tough to swallow, thats for sure.

Does the sport exhaust have any documented power gains associated with it? If not, you're probably better off going to the aftermarket, where there are a number of better-sounding (and yet not obnoxious) exhausts that provide modest power gains and offer warranties of their own.

The only advantage to the dealer option would be the convenience of not having to order from somewhere else and then find a shop to install it. Depending on where you are, that might be significant. The cost to go aftermarket (including install) would be similar, if not slightly less. I paid about $550 including installation for the Borla on my 2003 Cooper, and I think about $75 of that was for the installation.

There are a few pretty good threads here on Cooper exhausts; I'll see if I can dig them up for you.

P.S. That "not MCS" in your initial post needs to be in roughly 60-point font, red, and flashing if you actually expect to not get S info here.
