8 States and 2 Canadian Provinces later...

Picked up Francis On Aug 5th at Ralph Schomp in Denver.
Now after 9100 miles and a few states later, some more than once, we are back home.
I wish that the experience of picking up the MINI would have been more special, It felt like the MA could not have cared that we were even there.
Spent a day in Denver then off to the Oregon coast for 3 days.
While in Oragon Francis had a wiring problem, Engine service light came on DSC was inop and the A/C was out also. Rassmusan MINI came through for us, got Francis in the next day, Found Four wires that had been mashed during assembly which caused a short. Rassmusen kept us right on trach with our trip, BIG THANKS. After that it was down the coastal Highway towards Las Vegas for 4 days. From there the Wife flew home and went back to Denver for a couple more days. While in Denver some AHOLE keyed the Boot just under the rear window My next stop was Yale Town MINI in Vancouver, Had a engine block heater installed and a Minor warranty repair done, Had to spend an extra day due to a part not in stock, and I was off for my last leg of my trip. Nothing major just 2000 miles of driving in Canada and Alaska.
Tomorow I'm getting the Keying fixed IE $350 out of my pocket.
Nothing but a Joy the whole way Home.

Nice.. too bad about the keying incident... morons everywhere..!
How were the roads in Alaska? I heard they were very rough... I have been up to Alaska before and its beautiful... want to go back someday and explore more areas away from the city... enjoy your new car!

The roads got progressively worse after Whitehorse In the Yukon until the a few miles into Alaska. Most of our roads can not compare to what most states have, I swear all the roads we were on were the best I have ever driven on. But with the abuse that our roads get with snowplows and graders during the winter I'm surprised they are as good as they are.

Your car is a beauty, and I suspect she'll turn a lot of heads up there in Fairbanks!

Are you still running on the runflats?

Went through British Columbia and the Yukon to get home. Almost made a wrong turn that would have takin me to Alberta, that would have been hard to explain to my wife

Yes ran the run flats the whole way. No problems, they seemed just fine, the ride was not to hash at all. I do not have the sport plus suspension so the ride was not a harsh as one might expect.

I hear what you mean about Schomp. It really depends on the MA you get. Some days I'll go in there and all the sales men would rather **** around with the receptionist than tend to any of the customers, while other days they're extreemly helpful. Last time I went in there the only MA around seemed annoyed that he had to answer my questions when he was trying to flirt with the receptionist. I wonder if that was your MA. In any case, I'm sorry you got such a sh*tty MA.

Block Heater

How much did it cost to have the block heater installed?

Just wondering if it would be worth the drive to Vancouver...

Sorry Shawn...I was being sneaky with my somewhat rhetorical "question" about the second province....since the Yukon is actually a territory and not a province. Unless you took a boat from BC to Alaska, I knew you had to travel through the Yukon!!

"The Yukon is a territory within Canadian confederation with many, but not all, of the powers of a province. It has been a separate geographical and political entity within Canada since 1898."

I would love to see some "after" pictures when you got home. What was that?....over 1000 miles of gravel road driving??? Any rain, and your beautiful new MINI must have been a sight!!

I checked my invoice out and the cost was about $260 Canadian, a good deal in my eyes.
Cheers

I knew that it was called the Yukon territory but never knew that it was not an acual province. Thanks for a bit of info on that. No not quite a 1000 miles of gravel, I shudder to think what Francis would look like after that. There were quite a few breaks in the road and many areas were they are redoing the Highway. The road got more choppy and narower as I got closer to the boader.

I will post some I'm Home pictures once Francis is back from the body shop getting the keying fixed.
Cheers
Shawn
