Speaking of Service...
Lot, something that you mentioned has also been in the back of my mind about the large km's increments between servicing.
I purchased my 04 in September of last year with about 12KM on it - at a dealer. They performed the first service (oil change) at that time. I currently have about 22KM on it and the service indication says I still have 15K to go before the next service is due.
Can you really go 25KM between oil changes? Should time factor in? I am used to the old school "every 5km or 6mos" routine. I have had the car for almost a year now, should the oil be changed. The dealer says no problem at all.
Thoughts? Thx.

At the risk of stirring up a hornets' nest, I'll comment.
As long as you perform the services recommended by MINI's official schedule, you should be fine. Although not as often as many would advise, infrequent services will cause no damage. This statement assumes no abuse, as defined by the warranty (racing, etc).

Time is a factor, I think they say once a year.
That said, I get mine changed 1/2 way between intervals.
I pile on lots of KM's, 86000 in 25 months.95% highway.
The engine feels like new.
I had an oil change the other day, the tech. gave me a hard time, in a joking way. He said there is nothing wrong with my car, how was he supposted to make money

Even my brakes look like new.
