cost of second car service?
cost of second car service?
How much is it to get the second service on the mini. I called the mini dealership in calgary and they said like 650.00! WTF.....are they kidding me?
has anyone done their second service? Wow things in canada are kinda of a rip off.
thanks

I haven't had my second service yet, but from what I remember of looking at the dealer's maintenance schedule sheet the last time I was in, that sounds about right (I think it was between $450-600). There is a lot more done at the second service than there is at the first. More things checked and replaced, not just the oil and air filters.

It could be that much because the car was not bought here. MY second service was about $200, they do $600 worth of stuff. Third was cheaper.
I know warrenty work is covered in the US on Canadian cars, and the other way around, but maybe not Maintance.
An oil change, cost me $120 yesterday in Winnipeg. But the tech. did a reprogram on my remote for free.
Plus I like getting the car checked out more often than most, for piece of mind, and I feel 25k kms is to far to go between oil changes.
I can work on my lawnmower, but besides changing the wiper blades, and keeping fluids up, not that I have had to add much. About a quart of oil in 53k miles. This car is too much for me to work on. The tools alone would be more than the extended warrenty costs.
At Yaletown MINI in Vancouver:
At 39000 km the service costs:
$290 for manual Cooper
$278 for Manual Cooper S
$438 for Auto MINI.
THe auto most likely includes transmission fluid and filter change.
At 87000 Km, it's over 400 for the manual MINIs and $590 for Auto MINIs.
This is posted on their website.
Also, after the break-in period, I had an oil change done. It cost me $75 (including taxes).
So the prices quoted you sound on the high side.

beken, those prices are what we pay for the service, not what it is worth.
Unlike in the states were they get free maint. for 3 years/36k miles(57,936 miles), we get a discount on the service for the length of the warrenty.
Because I do 95% of my driving on the highway, my service intervals are at higher Kms. My first was at 17000, my second, 43000, third 65000, my forth will be this fall at just over 100000.
I get oil changes done 1/2 way through the intervals.
