Driving Clinic - by Doc Wong

Anyone serious about getting the most out of their MINI's would trully enjoy the free driving clinic run by Doc Wong, http://www.docwong.com/Autos/index.htm.

Once a month a different driving skills topic is covered followed by a spirited run starting in Redwood City to the coast, then down to Davenport for lunch followed by a challenging run inland through Santa Cruz County back to Skyline Boulevard. Everyone is adviced to drive at their own skill level.

July 23's topic was "Brake andThrottle Control." It really improved my driving confidence.

To escape the heat this past weekend the wife and I headed over to the coast and followed a chunk of the route from the driving clinic that is posted on his website. Some very neat roads.. the stage road part is like made for Mini and resembled some of the pictures you see of rural lanes and such in the UK. Had to return to the coast after the temperature outside climbed back into the high 90's, the 60's along highway 1 were much more enjoyable

Ended up going through Santa Cruz, and down to Pacific Grove before coming home. Very very enjoyable.

But related to the topic at hand, I attended the motorcycle riding clinic that he runs and it was a great day, although most of the bikes were Ducati's and such and I was on a Suzuki GS500, it was a great learning experience.

Looks like great fun and a learning experience--my kinda schooling. I will join after my car's break-in period (700 miles on the odometer already). This is one time I am not envious of all the events and goodies available in SouthCal. Thanks for the post.
