Darn sway bar is squeeking again!!

My friend and I installed it with the included grease and then 2 weeks later relubed it and its squeeking again. Any idea why? Is it just the heat this summer? Or does it have to do with me having my alta22mm on the hard setting (even though I have been told its best on the softer setting. I've just been to lazy and plan to adjust it when I rotate my wheels in a few hundred miles.)

Anyone?

Give the folks at Neuspeed a call. They carry a lubricant that is slippery, extremely sticky, and durable. I was able to use this 'stuff' for a year in the Northeast before re-lubing my sway bars. WD40 will remove this stuff quite nicely from your fingers.

My 22mm alta is always on the firm setting.

I had to relube several weeks ago. Was over a year since initial install.
I always use white lithum grease on my swaybar bushings.

From what I found, the squeeking was coming from the bottom of the
bushing where it sits on the frame. It had plenty of grease on the braket
and bar surfaces. I originally did not lube the bottom of the bushing....

So, see if greasing the bottom of your bushings help too.

Had the same thing on the 3er, an aftermarket sway with poly bushings that would start squeaking and groaning in no time after greasing them. Plumbers teflon tape under the bushing helps but the poly bushings often just do not hold the grease well or something and are innately noisey. Drove me crazy on that car and since BMW gave me so much grief over the bar anyway (took it off once and did not reinstall correctly, wouldnt do warranty work around it then as they are not liable for aftermarket parts, etc) I ended up going with the Dinan which has rubber bushings. Never had a noise problem again.

Try the plumber's tape, it should help. Good luck.

Thanks for the reccomendations guys. In a few hundred miles I plan to rotate my tires and when I do I will adjust the bar setting and see if I can correct the squeeking.
