Am i on the right track?

Dont mean to double post but just wanted to clarify my understanding for detailing my car

My process as follows:

Wash
Clay ( ill be using soap suds as lubricant)
Chaomis Dry

this is the part im confused about..

Im planning to use megs nxt gen wax after drying, buff and job done.

Should i :

- Be using paint cleaner somewhere in there? ( i thought the clay would take care of this? )
- Be using a 'polish step' - like the megs product ( i thought that the nxt gen wax has polishing properties? )

Lastly with 'spot' claying - how does this work? i have the QD spray from megs.. but i thought that in order to 'spot' clay u would need to wash the car anyway to remove of dirt etc that could potentially scratch the car when claying?

Thanks for the help

Your on the right track.

I use the cleaner, after a whole car clay. I get better results, than going straight to the wax.

I have to spot clay the bonnet more than most. Then I apply some spray/booster wax.

I'm going to use the polish the next time I do a full clay/cleaner/wax day.
It should, if I'm not mistaken be done after the cleaner, before the wax.
Anyone?

After 6 weeks, lots of washing, some booster wax, and loads of QD, the NXT still beads up water, feels smooth, and sheds bugs, bird poop, with a wash.
Oh, and it looks good to IMOP

I use a big micro fiber drying towel to dry, lay it on, don't rub

A great answer from lot15.

NXT does have polishing properties... a slight bit of fine abrasive in the mix. You will get better results by doing an intermediate paint polish step, but it will probably be a very slight improvement... you have to judge your time agains the results you want. I love doing this stuff, so I do it all... if you are looking for good bang for your buck (or time) the claybar will be a huge improvement.

On spot claying... I do it immediately after washing the car for the reason you mentioned... to minimize the chance of scratching. I'd think that if the car was very clean (no rain and little driving) and I QD'd well, I MIGHT clay, but even I'm not crazed enough that a bit of spot claying can't wait for the next wash...
