My 2003 MCO is flickering the battery light when I start the car. It eventually stops flickering after a few minutes so I have no clue. I have less than 600 miles on it so what the problem is? I've heard stories of faulty battery connections but its not like I've been off-roading the MINI. I'm going to the dealership this week so we shall see.

The first thing you should do is tighten all of your terminal connections. MCS owners have stated that this has been an issue for almost all deliveries. I would do that today. If it still flickers after you do that, it's a definate visit to your dealer.

I'm getting a oil light flicker. Had the oil topped off, then 'Oil Pressure Switch' replaced. Both times light returned (usu in low gear) directly after servicing. Some other folks have mentioned other dummy lights appearing, with hard to trace acutal problems. I as assuming that the dummy cluster runs through some 'lectornic/computer interface, and this might be producing the flicker. I return the car tomorrow for an additional review and will update if its an instrumentation problem.

But be sure to check the connections as well.

I have the very same issue. Typically happens when the car is first started and then for a few miles. Don't know if this is my imagination, but it seems to happen while shifting gears. I talked to my Mini dealer. She indicated that because it only happens ocassionly, she offers little hope of nailing it down. Thats not what I wanted to hear. Please let me know if you somehow get this resolved

Thanks.....

Well, my 2003 MC just exhibited this behavior for the first time this monring. The coolant is up to temperature, but the car itself is still on the cool side, being about 1/2 mile from home. I accelerare briskly in first to 4500 RPM, shift to second and as soon as I let the clutch out, the battery light flicks on, just for a second. I come to a stop light about 1/2 mile further and on starting, the scenario repeats. After that I could not get it to repeat. So it seems to be under hood temperature dependant.

I checked the alternator belt, it seems tight and the tensioner seems to be operating, but maybe it does not work as well when it is cold (if you can define 55 deg here in So Cal as "cold&quot.

I checked the battery terminals, while they were not loose, I was able to get 1.4 turn on each bolt. We will see what awaits me in the morning.

Yes the car is relatively new, but I now have 900 miles and three weeks on it. I don't think this is a residual problem from sitting on the dealer's lot not getting charged.

When I was checking the battery terminals I found something more interesting, an unconnected harness with a 3 pin connector. Does anybody know what this is? Should it be conencted? It is just laying on top of thje battery, near the negative terminal.
