R50/53 Channel 7 sub 21 the official MINI frequency?
Channel 7 sub 21 the official MINI frequency?
I've read on NAM where GMRS/FRS channel 7 sub 21 is the 'international' MINI gathering place. Of course, it's already set in my handheld for this coming weekend. . .my question is: Is this the 'unofficial official' MINI freqency, and if so, how did that evolve? Is there some symbolism to this or something? Or did someone just like the numbers (someone who attended AMVIV, perhaps??) and they caught on?
Thoughts/ideas/truths/theories?
Thanks.

DiD and YuccaPatrol suggested it several years ago. Both had been (may still be) active on VW Vortex BBS, and that was the frequency used by the veedubs.
Since the suggestion in 2002, it has become the universal MINI frequency in North America, at least as far as I know.

I think we should have chosen 7/17, or maybe 11/18. (Who knows why I like those numbers?)

Why not? 21 is a multiple of 7, which is a lot of people's lucky number! I think it's cool and very easy to remember!
