R52 MCSC Insurance / VIN Number
MCSC Insurance / VIN Number
G'day!
Just wondering if anyone has had trouble insuring a MCSC.
I just called to get my car (arriving next week) insured, and
they said that they were not able to validate the VIN.
They can still insure it... they just couldn't give me a quote
without a valid VIN. I'm certain the VIN is correct, as it
was confirmed by my MA as well as with the OL.

That's strange. Maybe because it's a convertable. But they've been around for awhile now.
When my 05 MCS had been done.... and not even on the boat yet... I called my insurance company for a quote and I gave them the Vin. # - and they HAD the number and car data already in the system. I was surprised.
I wouldn't worry - the insurance company will still find a way to take your money.

Have the agent read you the VIN that he's inputting. I'd have to guess someone typed a digit in the wrong place. If that fails, just call State Farm... I just dropped my comp to a zero deductable (covers the windshield) and I think I'll be paying something like $420.00/ 6 months (37yo M)

and once to my MA (we did a 3-way call to verify the
VIN). Oh well. As long as I'm insured.
I opted for a lowish $50 deductable. Like you, I was
worried about the windshield (known to crack easily).
I had the same thing happen to me for my MCSa. They insured it under a wrong VIN, nkowing it was wrong since the MA spoke with the agent. I just got the car registered, so now I just have to provide a copy of my registration so that they can correct the VIN on the insurance. What they did was use a VIN from an 05 MINI that they found in their system. Hopefully the same thing can happen for you, so you can get insurance.
Hum....interesting......we have USAA - back in September when we called to add Ariel, we had no problem. However, back in 02' when the MINI first came out, we had a bit of a problem as they were SO new, the MINI was not showing up in their system. We were insured but it took a couple of days for them to validate it...
Donna
02' CR/W MCS (gone to MINI heaven - burned up)
05' Cool Blue MCSC "Ariel"
05' HB/W MCS

We have USAA as well and they were only able to insure our MCC as an MCSC. I called and asked about it, and they said that was what the VIN was showing as in their system. I was concerned that we might be paying a slightly higher premium with that designation, but laziness and sunny days took over and I let the matter drop!
