Are there any rules against swapping out tires during your run group? Since the S05's are so heat sensitive, I am thinking about rotating through 3 pairs of tires (all S05s) in Atwater. I am thinking it would be sufficient to leave the rears the same through the run group and swapping out the fronts between each driver. Any thoughts on this?

 

No rules against it but you better be quick; after the debacle in GS at Nationals this past year I don't think you'll be allowed to take a mechanical to change tires unless you've got a flat.

We've done a front-to-back swap mid-heat in the past; with a cordless impact gun and a quick-pump jack (2 pumps to lift the whole side of the car) my co-driver and I can get both sides done in under 5 minutes. If we had two cordless impact guns I think we could do it in 3.

 

Good idea. Just be careful, running S05's all around, your rears will then have heat while your fronts won't when you first start the run. You may understeer for a turn or two...
