16" wheels with non-runflats?

I saw a spec sheet for 2005 MINIs over on motoringfile.com that showed 16" wheels with non-runflat all-season tires available for one of the cabrio models (either Cooper or S). I think it was a V-spoke wheel.

Why not have these available for all models, especially Coopers, which come with a spare wheel and a jack? Having done their research on this forum and others, many people (like myself) would likely opt for 16" 5-stars if they could be had without the heavy, harsh-riding runflats.

Is providing a 16" spare the issue?

Forgive me if this is an often-discussed topic; I don't read the tire/wheel forum much.
