TCE Wilwoods - Holy Crap!!!
TCE Wilwoods - Holy Crap!!!
I picked up my Mini from Bay Bridge Motors on Monday after getting my TCE Wilwood Big Brake Kit installed (zinc plated and gas slotted). I decided to go with the rear rotors as well cause I just didn't wanna look small back there. Some minor issues came up with the installation but nothing too major as it was the first TCE kit they had installed. BBM did a great job on the install and I thank Todd of TCE for contacting myself as well as BBM to go over any issues. These brakes are no joke, 13.1" x 1.1", 14.5lb rotor. They stop on a DIME!!!
What kind of install problems did your dealer experience with installation?
What kind of braking performance is offered after repeated stops from high speed?
Is the working of the E-brake affected by having the rear BBK installed?
Also, what wheels are you using please and did you have to use spacers?
alot of questions, but thanks in advance

I'll toss in some answers to this as I'm responsible for some of the issues he had as well as having installed a number myself.
The issues at install centered around the shipping of the larger 1.10" rotor in full 13.1" diameter rather than the 13.0". While the added .050" radius is not much it can prove very tight to the caliper. The 13.1 came over from another application so it made sense to share the rotor where we could. While I've made adjustments to the brackets for this added diameter the ones shipped out were of the standard .0 size. There was a bit of futzing to clear the caliper but it appears the job was minimal. I haved offered to supply the corrected brackets at any time if asked. It's 100% my responsibility not the guys doing the work.
Repeated stops might be hard to produce on the street with this kit as I doubt you'd ever really tax them enough. Take it to Sears Point...errr...Infinion, and then we'd be able to talk rotor fade perhpas!
E brakes are fully functional as the caliper is only slightly re located. The cable IS tight during the install while the suspension is at full droop. However when back on the ground it is in a relaxed state. And the tension is not on the cable but rather the jacket. Meaning the brake is not activated even at droop. (you'd never push this one to 12" though!)
Thanks for listening, just wanted to be up front on the bracket fit.

Unless you took off the wheel and viewed it from the top down it won't look any different than the narrow rotor version.

I'm rollin' on 17x7" Enkei's and needed 15mm spacers in the front. Looks awsome and defenitely helps with handling.
