Removing shopping cart 'plastic mark/scratch/thing' from paint

Hi -

OK... I've got a mark on the front, passenger-side quarter panel that looks like it was made by the plastic bumpers on a shopping cart (I KNEW I shoulda parked waaay in the back of the lot! ). The mark is about 8-10 inches long, and it looks like a residue of some kind left by whatever was dragged across the paint.

Can anyone recommend a product to remove this 'mark'? Would I use something like scratch-X? Bug & Tar remover?

Any advice would be great!!

thanks - - m

If it were me, I'd try Meguiar's #9 (swirl remover) and maybe a clay bar, depending how 'deep' the mark is. If it's on the surface, #9 should take care of it.

FWIW, I always park in the back of lots and once watched a wayward child 'racing' a shopping cart and to let it go. I watched helplessly as the cart made an unexpected right turn, right into my car (not MINI, whew!) It's a dangerous world out there.

Cool - Thanks Eric!! I'll pick some up. You apply it with just a cotton terry cloth, eh?

Thanks!! - Yeah, I'm really happy with how it came out. I designed it, and sent Cooper Flags the hi-res art file and they output it.

Here's a better picture from the gallery:

If you ever need to have a custom roof designed, I'm available for hire
