Good morning erichui,
The CDA-7998R looks great! But I'm wondering if it's a straight din size. Looks to be maybe a din and a half size. I'm thinking that may take some custom work to fit into the Mini. Other than that, the features sound excellent, and Alpine is known for having very good quality. Doesn't look like the face comes up much higher than the mounting opening, so wouldn't expect any problem with the speedo. But then proofs in the installation.
Good luck,
DV

do a search on mini2, it has been installed into a mini before no problem. the screen is not din and a half. if you compare it to a normal alpine unit (like the 7894) it's not that much bigger maybe 10mm? i considered this, but thought it to be too expensive and i was worried about the fantom face feature breaking, since it would go in and out everytime the car starts.
