Cold Air Intake - 2005 Cooper

My 2005 Cooper has the CVT. Many of the intakes I see do not indicate 2005 on their description and I've heard that having the CVT can make a difference since the available space under the bonnet is smaller. What are my options for a CAI. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi fairmont,

I did hear awhile back (before I got mine) that there is not a lot of room so you need to be careful in mounting a CAI, as it could rub on the underside of the bonnet. So, I had the dealer install mine. I've got both the MINI Madness CAI and cat back exhaust. I don't know if they had any issues installing them, but they both work ok and I don't notice any rubbing. You may want to check with your dealer or a local shop that works on MINIs or your local MINI club.

Also, if you are concerned with the fitment, you can always go to a drop-in filter, which should still add some gains.
