The Car Wash Weather Woes

So yesterday I dropped my Mini off for a wash and I thought I could use a good wax. Mine is Chilli Red, after it was done, it looked amazing. BRAND NEW.

AND TODAY SNOW!! BOOOHHH...Go away snow. I want to enjoy the shine of the Mini.

It is so painful when you've spent hours detailing your MINI to have the weather go sour. I have a personal grudge against several of the local broadcast weatherpersons who have BETRAYED me in the past. As for me, I'm so hooked on having a shiny MINI that I'm going nocturnal. Yup, hand car washing in the dark....I'm scoping out my well-lit locations this weekend. I've done the near-freezing temp thing...time to notch it up a bit!!

jds- I wash my car in the dark too sometimes and pull the car inside
to do the through wipe down. I also wash my car in the rain sometimes;
for instance after taking my car out on a cloudy day (weatherchannel
stated it was not going to rain) it starts raining and the car is all soiled
up.... out comes the rain coat, hose, and shampoo. My neighbor's kids
think Im crazy. One of them even yelled out "it's not a lamborgeenie!"

I stopped with all of this since it was easier to just get a beater and
use it during bad weather.

Im hoping to buy a nice dehumidifier by Spring for my garage. The 2
large fans alone are not drying the car fast enough in the
rainy/humid season.

Speaking of car washes, I presume most everyone here uses one of the automated car washes during the winter. How do you guys rate the different car washes, I guess Im referring mainly to the ones at gas stations.

I personally really like the Delta Sonic at Citgo, pricey though, but then again, it's 9.99 (with a packet of 3) and you get a free wash within 5 days. And, they say they are brushless, but I guess not touch free, as they have these think carpet like clothes that sweep the soap away from the car.

The ones at Shell are not brushless, but seem to be the cheapest.

Mobil have touchless, but didnt like their wash too much.

Havent tired BP yet.

What do you guys say.

The rear left strut bottom does not clear the rails...therefore,
I do not drive my MCS in the winter time.
