Just dropped by the MINI dealer in Monrovia (actually, "swam" by might be better description today), and noticed something new on the MCS they had on the dealer showroom. At least it was new to ME.

The new "S's" appear to have an aluminum "kick plate" on the door sill of both doors. The plate is a very nice brushed aluminum (or stainless steel) affair, with the words "MINI Cooper S" across the width of the door. The "S" is in RED, the other words are etched or embossed.

Anyway, when I asked the salesperson, he said that all the new "S" cars were coming that way; but not the Coopers.

Something else to add to the trivia file!

 

To my knowledge, the cooper S has always had the "MINI Cooper S" door sills with the red S.

 

Our MCS has the aluminum threshold. It really does add a nice level of detail to the car when the door is open and the aluminum shines!

Alice is one month old today!

 

My 05/02 Cooper has this aluminum door sill with the etched "MINI Cooper" - just no red S!

It really adds something to the affect when you open the door of the car - I would be dissappointed to find that it has been removed from newer builds.

 

My 2003 MC has brushed door sill plate with "MINI COOPER" on them...
