I'm in the middle of a clutch job on my 2011 S hatch. I was sitting in the wheel well where the transmission would usually be, just having a look around, and I noticed that the output hose from the turbo is crimped pretty badly in two spots. The turbo was replaced by the dealer when it was still under warranty - it looks like the hose they used is too long, forcing it to be crimped. Just posting here to confirm that this is not what this should look like.

 

Confirmed ... the hose is twisted.

Thanks! One other question based on your images - is deleting that canister something that's advised? I did a quick search, and I didn't find anything.

 

That tube is an intake muffler. It’s supposed to reduce turbo noises. Replacing it with a straight tube can add a little bit of throttle response.
