I went to do plugs pre-emptively a couple weeks ago, neither of my spark plug sockets fit. I looked it up and found I needed a 12 point 14mm spark plug socket. Unfortunately, I was lazy and didnt check the plugs. I get the socket and noticed it wasnt doing anything yesterday. I took a peek and noticed that the plugs are 6 sided and between my dad and I, neither of us had sockets that fit. Any idea of what size these plugs may be? I was wondering if there might be a common size plug people put in that is not oem. Its a 2015 r57 s, but I figured Id have better luck in here. I dont have any issues currently, so Im not sweating it yet, but Id rather get plugs I know are good into the car. Plus, I plan to eventually get it tuned with a bunch of other upgrades, so Ill need to put step colder plugs in. Thanks! Pfa Its first snow day with me!
My 2012 R56 spark plugs fit a thin walled 14-mm socket. You can measure the size of your non-OEM spark plugs using calipers if you or your dad has this tool.
Thank you! I have 12 point boschs from yall I was looking to install and hit that road block 😭 Any tips on how to easily get the plugs off the coil packs? Feels like Im chewing uo the wires each time I do it, especially on cylinder 1.
On the N12/N16/N14N18 coil packs you unsnap the top clips/plug and wiggle side to side as you pull straight up. They will be on tight and inspect them for wear/rust and arching marks. If they have those get new ones. If clean you just push them back down.
Same as the BMW inline 6, they are shared. I dont use the flat head, I just do the wiggle with two fingers.
