K-Can Errors

Hello All. Looking for some assistance.

I have a 2012 R60 All4 S, I picked this up about a year ago. I absolutely love this machine! When I bought it, there was some water ingress from the sunroof into the drivers footwell. I removed the carpet to let it dry, cleaned up any connectors and grounds of visible corrosion. I also sent the FRM away for inspection and repair. I am still receiving different codes pertaining to the K-can lines.

The following are all K-CAN line Codes:
CAS - D904
CA - D2C4
SHD - DA04
IC - E104
PDC - E204
FRM - E584
CID - E5C4

I have no apparent issues that I can find with relation to these codes. Everything seems to work great, just these codes are present and will not clear. I am curious on where the factory data line splices are located. Many of these modules seem to be on the same line according to the wiring diagrams I have. If one of these splices have any corrosion in them, that could be the cause of these problems. Are there any factory data line splices in the drivers footwell? If anyone has any insight or solutions to these issues, your input would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you cleaned out both front sunroof drains to prevent further water back up and entry down into your footwells?

Based on a brief review of the wiring diagrams in ISTA+, the 3 pairs of K-CAN splices are above your steering column, behind the radio and under the middle of your dashboard - all of which would be difficult for water entry. It's more likely you have water damage in your JBE (passenger footwell). ISTA+ likely has a "job" that looks at the K-CAN faults for each ECU sender and receiver to make a recommendation which unit is the culprit. I would open the FRM to inspect the surface mount components.

Thank you BlazingE60 for the response. I have opened the FRM and there is visible water intrusion. I attached a picture of what i found. Since then, I sent the FRM out for repairs. I contacted Bimmerpro in Quebec to troubleshoot and repair the K-CAN issue and the window issue. They diagnosed and changed out the window relays. (I had and still have problems with the drivers window, which only started when I removed the FRM) I've cleaned all the related FRM connectors. Not sure on a good path forward....

Miniwolf,

The FRM is in the drivers area footwell. The JBE is in the passenger area footwell. Think of mirrored across the car in location. Both are susceptible to sunroof drain water ingress. I think BlazingE60 was trying to say if you had water in FRM, you should also check JBE, which I would agree with.

I will have to take a look there on my next day off. Thank you for the info. what i was thinking, besides visible damage and corrosion, I'm going to check for continuity between these points. (with the battery disconnected of course) If there is resistance, then I know there is an issue within the wires. Anywhere else I should be looking?
