JCW Cost of replacing JCW turbocharger
Cost of replacing JCW turbocharger
Hi all, my R60 JCW recently has the check engine light on and off, with the 2C57 error code. Took it to an auto shop in Seattle area, and they recommended replacing the turbocharger with mounting kit, as well as the turbo oil return and supply lines. They quoted $3,465 and $390 respectively, which sounds a lot to me given how much my car values now. Are the quotes reasonable, or should I try another shop? FYI: I'm definitely not handy enough to replace them myself (at least I can't find any YouTube video detailing how to do it).
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!
When replacing a turbocharger, Mini has a recommended installation parts kit to be included also. Replacement JCW turbo retails for ~$2000, and the installation kit is ~$300. The installation kit includes miscellaneous hardware and oil lines. If those prices included installation labor, its not unreasonable. You could save some cash by performing the swap yourself. If you are mechanically inclined, it can be done on a long Saturday.

They sure are, and that's why I'm willing to throw $4k on it even though its residual value is almost similar.
