I recently purchased a 2013 mini countryman s with the n18 motor, there is a misfire on cylinder 3 I’m hoping someone may be able to help with.
initially I ordered coils but after putting the new one the coil on 3 burned up. The pcv was stuck so I replaced the valve cover and new coil hoping maybe the exhaust gases melted it somehow?
after that didn’t fix it I swapped plugs around and the miss stayed with cylinder 3
did a compression test
Cylinder 1: 165, 165
Cylinder 2: 175, 175
Cylinder 3: 170, 170
Cylinder 4: 160
checked wiring to coil, it had voltage and ground I’m new to using a multimeter so if anything else I should check that would help tremendously
thinking of swapping injectors to see if I have a faulty injector but it’s rather involved and I saw a special tool I’d have to order which I’d rather not do
im hoping someone will have some tips on what I should check next any help would be appreciated
I was able to swap the injectors from 1 and 3, problem persists.
took a look at the valves and they look relatively good for 106000 miles so I wouldn’t think it would be a carbon issue. Only other thing I can think of is dme if anyone has any advice on testing that also coil smells like it’s starting to burn up again
took my power probe to the ignition wires instead of the multimeter and number 3 on the yellow wire shows 0.5v and a diode even with key off, no other cylinder does that and got inpa codes
