About the Item
This item is a 3D-printed, three-part modular accessory that replaces the frequently broken MINI Cooper R5X Splash Guard (51752755449), designed to protect your vehicle's alternator and belt assembly from road debris and splashes. Made from PLA (polylactic acid) plastic material in factory black and maintains aspects of the original look. HARDWARE IS NOT INCLUDED.

Motivation for Design
The MINIs inherently ride low to the ground, and thus the splash guard, while an important safeguard, takes the brunt of punishment from speed bumps or dips in a driveway entry. Inevitably, this piece is broken. The seller has purchased two replacement guards over the past 15 years and now wants access to an inexpensive replacement part, inspired by the advent of 3D printing. Despite several commercial offerings of Lifetime replacements, the seller wanted to make this option available to fellow MINI enthusiasts at a low cost, where, hypothetically, purchasing 2 of these items over the lifetime of vehicle ownership is on par with the upfront cost levied by MINI distribution depots.


Moderate Assembly required (Screws and quick-nut hardware and adhesives are not supplied, but local hardware stores (e.g., ACE Hardware) can supply these items.

See photos in the listing. The item comes in three parts with dovetail linkages that slide together and are locked in place with ideally a two-part, high-tensile-strength epoxy.

While the dovetail linkages provide a solid assembly, the kit also comes with two overlay strips that are glued over the tops of the dovetail intersections for added durability.
