I have an R52 convertible S. I do deliveries with the vehicle, so need it to perform. Two times now, the MINI has started to stall out on acceleration. The vehicle would accelerate somewhat, then bog down, but not go down to zero on RPM. Then, it would surge. It has done this a few times. When it was bogging down, it seemed as if it was a fuel issue, where the engine was not getting sufficient fuel. Then, the surge and it would take off again. But, during the surge, it always seemed that the vehicle had no idea what gear to be in (It's an automatic). That could be nothing because the vehicle was moving somewhat slowly, then immediately at high RMPs.
I had this issue, and it happened about 8-9 times all at that moment. Then, the vehicle stopped doing it. I drove several days with just one repeat. It happened again tonight after about five days, and this was more prolonged. I let the vehicle sit for about 30 minutes, then drove back to the house with zero issues.
I am aware of an issue with the R65, and people have resoldered the fuel relays. I have not been able to link the issue with my R52 Gen 1.
