Speakers for R55
I've owned my '09 Clubman for about a year now and just thought I had a terrible sound system as I don't have much bass. My car has the basic sound system (no H/K), but has Navigation. I was driving a Base '08 R56 a couple of days ago with the base sound system, no Navigation and it's bass is much better. I chalked it up to different audio setups at the time, but when I checked my front speakers this morning (fader all the way forward), there was NO bass. I listened to the driver's door speakers and there is no sound from the woofer, but sound from the mid-range; on the passenger side, there is some sound from the woofer, but it's not good, however good sound from the mid-range. I looked at the wiring diagram and see that the mid-range and woofers are on the same circuit, but split off somewhere along the way.
I took the door panels off and found that the woofer cone had separated from the magnet, os that would be why it doesn’t work. Has anyone swapped in H/K woofers as replacements? I have a parts Mini with the H/K system, so curious how they would sound with a non-H/K system.
Thank you!
