Possible causes of super tapping? R60 countryman

Hello all,

My car, 13’ R60, shows super tapping. This issue only happens in highway while acceleration. It happens no so often but do occur once in a while. I always fuel it with Shell nitro+. Do you guys have any idea what might be the issue that cause super tapping or potential things to check? Will that be the issue of HPFP?

A 2013 R60 shouldn’t have fuel pump issues, as it uses the more robust revised and updated design. If you are 100% sure it’s not bad gas, I would start with new plugs and coils.

I have 4 NGK iridium plugs and Bosch coils, ~ 8000 mi. Any thoughts?

x2 plugs and coils, this is the base starting point. While I don't remember a specific mileage number, I had a Bosch coil fail very prematurely. If money is tight, try to get it scanned and see if it is throwing a misfire code for a particular cylinder, and try just replacing on that one. Failing that but following the same principal, try a new plug and coil in each cylinder one at a time. It's unlikely, but hardly impossible, two went bad at the same time.

Thank you for the suggestion! No miss fires yet and any brand recommendations for coils? I don’t worry about how much they cost but just want to get it fixed

Most people on here seem to recommend Bosch for coils. I think my R60 currently has 3 Bosch and 1 Delphi in it. The 1 Delphi was an emergency buy from a local parts store when a Bosch one failed prematurely. Things happen, not throwing shade at Bosch.

EDIT: spark plug recommendations, I don't know. I happen to be running some NGK Iridiums that were around $90 for the set of 4 where I live.

I have had new plugs that turned out to bad, its frustrating and can lead you down a wild rabbit hole of diag. That is why now i save the original plugs number the boxes and set them aside and i also number my coils.
