Hey there,

I'm getting a reasonably heavy coolant leak, which is dripping through into the passenger side footwell, but only when I have the blower motors on.

I've read on other threads that a leak here is normally the water pump or the coolant pipe ... but wouldn't these leak if the blower was off as well?

Any ideas?

Sounds like a leak in the heater core - if all inside. Do you have manual climate control, or auto control?

 

It's manual climate control. I'll give the heater core a check, thanks for the pointer .

I took the car for an AC diagnostic the other day as well and they said it had a big leak somewhere too but couldn't find it. Any idea if that could be the fault of the heater core too?

 

Not the core itself - Coolant vs Freon - but maybe the cause is the same ( parts rubbing together?, sharp edge ). You need to get in there - pics are helpful.
