F55/F56 Loud flapping noise from engine room at hwy speed
Loud flapping noise from engine room at hwy speed
Hi All, i have a 2016 MINI F57 S (it's a manual car and has about 50K miles on it), but basically it's the same car as F56, so i would like to ask this question here.
Today on the way to my work, suddenly i heard very loud flapping noise from my engine room. (driving at around 65mph). At first i thought it was coming from the speakers but i was coming from the front.
It sounds more like the bottom engine shield cover felt out and flapping at a high speed. but F57 don't have those fabric like cover. it has a pretty thick aluminum panel. So i don't think it's the shield cover. (after i parked my car, i don't see anything under.)
It lasted for about 10 sec and as i exit for another hwy, it's gone and didn't come back.
Some say it might be a serpentine belt but when i checked it, it seems intact.
Does anyone have any similar issues/experiences? I'm kinda puzzled by it and i'm afraid of having it again.
Thank you for your help in advance!

i found the issue.
it was this stupid weather strip partially fall off and hitting the plastic trim part and made huge noise at the high speed.
intersting thing is, it fell off in the middle so when the car is parked, visually they look intact. but it was intersting, it sounded like coming from the hood. i just peeled it off and no more issue.
Thank you for checking it though.
