Ok...changed my mind AGAIN

I must be boring you all to death with my "updates."

As you know, I had planned on getting a chili red base Cooper since day one on this forum.

The other day, as you also know, I decided to have a bit more fun and get the Cooper S. Well, this made it even harder, because now I have a lot more choices. I decided I really liked the body colored interior, but in the chili red, it was a bit too much.

One MINI color I have always really liked, but kind of forgot about since it wasn't available on the Cooper, is the electric blue. Now that I can get it, I think I'm going to change my mind on the red.

So as of right now, who knows what it'll be next week, I'm going to order the Cooper S in the electric blue, with the electric blue interior trim.

I am having a lot of trouble trying to decide what I want. The MINI has so many nice colors, none of them are THE ONE. I like them all.

Did anyone else have this problem, or am I just losing it? I can't wait for this car to be ordered and done with. I'm sure I'll be happy with whatever color I choose, but choosing it is painful.

I definitely experienced this. I would have had no problem if BRG had been of a "proper" hue and non-metallic. Slap on a white roof and you're done. But the Mini color palette left me uninspired. I ultimately went with solid DS as a sort of anti-choice. It works well enough, but I definitely don't love it. Oh I miss the Giallo Ocra of my old Alfa. That was a color.

i experienced something similar also. i was totally undecided until about 2 weeks before i ordered. i was set on IB/W with white bonnet stripes. but then when i walked into the show room there was a CR/W with bonnet stripes and i fell in love with the look. you'll change ur mind before you order, on the way to the dealer, in the show room, and when u finally sit down with the dealer. ur gut will tell u what is right

Hopefully, you'll decide what you want & get it. I just hope that after a year you won't change your mind again & want a suped-up Honda MINIs are great & fun whether they are a MC or a MCS or whether they are green, red or blue. Make a decision & stick with it.

But don't make the choice based on the way the colors look on miniusa.com. The colors are all off. Look through the gallery or better yet, in person. There are tons of pictures here in the galleries.

i will have to agree, in person is the way to go. looking at pictures before i got mine did no justice. When you see it in person you just know. I love mine and would never change, though EB is a sweet color. Good luck with the choice. I love the red with the black stripes and roof. Don't worry, either way you won't be disappointed!

Sweetie, of course we all went through changes as we chose the color of our MINIs and everything else to do with our MINIs! I understand what you are going through!

Now, I wanted to tell you that at the c3 detailing party last weekend, one of the participants brought his new CR/W MCS. It had the body-colored dash and we ALL loved it! It looked fantastic!!

But, I will say that the Electric Blue is gorgeous and, as far as I know, it still only offered for MCS models. I think that EB/W with EB dash would be beautiful!

Not only are you not alone, but this has actually been studied by the auto industry. It's been shown that in general, color is the single most important factor in deciding if someone will actually purchase a car.

I bounced between CR and EB about 300 times until the time ran out for me to change it (which was a merciful day). I'm getting a red car with the body color dash and I don't regret it one sec. I'm still undecided about whether I'll change the stripes to black (likely you next major cunundrum).
I only regret not getting the MFSW. Don't know what I was thinking......

You'll love the car!

Kyle,

This is excellent, think about it. The big problem in your life (our lives) is what color MINI to order. It’s a wonderful world.

I agree, you have to see the car, can’t really tell from pictures. The day my wife and I went to order we were totally settled on LY/W. Well, we pulled up to the dealer and there was the exact car we planned to order. It just did not seem right (for us). Anyway, ended up ordering JB/W with checkered top and mirrors, white bonnet stripes.

OH, OH, you know I have never seen one of those either.

Maybe I should…..

Good Luck.

Biased opinion

Just cause I have EB/EB does not mean I am biased! But that is what "fit" my taste when I went to buy. It just popped at me. Go to any MINI dealer and walk the selection, if nothing turns you on, go to another one if available to you. If not, the sit down with all the selections and go from there
I am sure that if you took a poll, every color combination and feature combination would get almost as many comments as choice for president.............
Pick one and HAPPY MOTORING

If you are concerned with price, remember that CR is not metallic, while EB is and is a cost option.

Kyle,

Get whichever color makes you smile the most, that seems to be the attitude you have adopted for deciding which car to buy.

-ot- I love how this board welcomes people of all ages to be part of the community. BMW boards I used to be a part of would greet young buyers with what they thought was an obligatory "how can you afford this car" garbage. The lack of jealousy and insecurity on this board and in this community is refreshing.

I'm pumped for you Kyle, and I'm partial to CR! My color choice process went like this: my previous car was red, but I loved the DS and the Black, so I configured them all on MINIUSA, printed them out, and was still undecided. So I did an internet search. The cr/b made my insides turn in a good way, so cr/b it was.

I was caught between the dark gray color and my indi-blue, but
since the dealer had the IB with aero, R90, etc. ready to roll, I
decided on the IB. If I ever get another one, it'll be the dark
gray color and a 05'.

When I was looking for a car, the MINI was so far from what I'd been planning to buy that it took a second test drive to seal the deal. I know, . Anyhow, as luck would have it the dealership had just recieved a huge order of new MINIs when I went in the second time, so I had a chance to see lots of color combinations in person. In my case I couldn't get my first choce, DS/B, because I wasn't in the market for an MCS. But when I saw the VR/B combo, it was love at first sight. Of course I still had to order because, well, I had to....

So in short my advice is... get out there and look. The right combination will speak to you.

Thanks to everyone who responded.

mbcoops, I noticed the same thing about this place. Everyone is cool with each other. People on the Saturn forum I used to belong to gave me a bunch of the "you're a spoiled, rich brat" crap when I said I was getting a MCS.....not here.

LouiefromStLou, you will NEVER see me in a pimped out Honda, don't worry.

In fact, I have the opportunity to buy a 2004 Mazda RX-8 fully loaded with the 6-speed manual, leather, sunroof, navigation system...everything. It has just a tick over 25k miles on it. Someone traded it in at the dealer I work for, and because I'm an employee, I have connections. I can get the Mazda for THOUSANDS less than a new Cooper S. Most people, my parents included, think I'm crazy for wanting a MINI over an RX-8, but I do.

SwingMCS03, don't worry, I've seen all the colors in person. In fact, a teacher at school has an EB/W MCS, so I see it a lot, and I love it.

MINIclo, the fact that the EB is only available on the MCS kinda adds to the "exclusiveness" of that color, right? I love it.

iamwiz82, when I first started looking at the MINI, price was an importnant factor to me, but since I decided to get the MCS, the "price concern" has gone out the window. I want to make sure my MINI is exactly the way I want it to be.

Thank goodness, Kyle I'm partial to CR & BRG. Red is my color but I always wanted a car that had "racing" in the description The EB is a sharp color though. Oh, decision, decisions I drove a RX-8 at Mazda Rev It Up. MINIs are still better

True...that one surprises me. Grey (dark silver) is such a hot color in today's car market that I would think they would make it available on both models.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one going crazy about which color combo to get on my new Mini. I am over a year away from ordering one and it seems like I change my mind every week. There are so many nice combos you can put together.

This week (and I know it may change next week), my choice is a Mini Cabrio S in black with a black roof and white bonnet stripes. Interior either blue leather or black leatherette.

EVERY MINI IN ANY COLOR IS HOT....

Regards, Glenn

Glad to know I'm not the only color switcher. I was set on Dark Silver for months and months and ended up going with Chili Red at the last moment. It was the red interior bits that sold me. I love the red dash with the chrome trim. Oh, and I had a hard time swallowing the upcharge for metallic paint.

Glenn is right, all the colors are fantastic!

Oh this is so much fun. This indecisivesness is what makes buying a new car so much fun. I really like EB. Are you totally sold on the white roof? I think EB/B is totally hot. I would say that EB/W is fun and that EB/B is hot.

But of course in the end, you will get what you like. I flip flopped, that's for sure. But in the end, I ended up with my beloved Indi Blue/White, and I LOVE it. I wouldn't change the color combo for the world. Not too fond of the new blues...

Get the red, get the red!!!

I am getting a Chili Red Convertible with the interior body color. The best part, it will be here in a few short days!! It really is a WONDERFUL combo!! It's pretty rare -- I had a REALLY hard time finding pics. Be daring and get what ya love . . . go for the RED!!
(and this comes froma girl who swore her next car was going to be blue!)

It was also between CR and EB for me, although in '03 they didin't have a choice of body color interior bits. Just saw a EB/W with the painted interior, and chrome pack, just gorgeous, really.

Good luck on your choice, Purple Haze had caught my eye recently and someone mentioned an MCSC JB/Blk top and blue interior.......Hmmmmm!
