Just picked up a fantastic 2021 F60 Countryman SE from a dodge dealer. They lost the charging cord and are asking if I will accept a less expensive aftermarket part from Amazon. Boston based Mini dealer have me the OE part number 61446818634 > $750 retail. Anyone have any experience with this?

 

I bought and installed this Level 1 charger in the garage.

​​We don't plan on staying in this house and I couldn't justify the cost to wire the garage for 220 to support a Level 2 charger.

The factory Level 1 charging cable is nothing to write home about and absolutely not worth $750. We leave it in the trunk in the event we have an opportunity to charge while traveling.

If a dealer is going to reimburse you for a charger and you are willing to to pay for an electrician to add the 220 wiring, get a Level 2 charger from Amazon over the factory charger.

 

Much appreciated advice - I ended up managing to get the dealer to buy the L1 charging cord. Fortunately we have an outlet close enough to the garage door to use it as a semi-permanent solution, but I hear you about the 220V L2 being so much better... We're going to go this route as we get further electrified. Our area is fairly rural so the L1 overnight works pretty well for our situation until we get a 2nd car that's a PHEV or EV. Right now the other car is an Untold Clubman JCW, which is absolutely bonkers but not electric.
