R56 non-S - EBC Yellow/Red Stuff and maybe rotors?

I have the Red stuff currently installed and the dust is much lower than the stock.
Will yellow stuff shorten the braking distance?
Do they even match the R56 as the Red stuff?
What is the extra-dust gain?
Are there any better rotors than the stock ones (that worth the investment)?

In my opinion, rotors are a sacrificial item. Don’t spend a lot of money on rotors.

Tires have a big impact on braking distance, not just pads. When you slam on the brakes, does the ABS kick in? If not, then upgrade your brake pads. If ABS engages, then upgrade your tires.

The EBC Yellow pads are supposed to be a more track focused compound. The Red pads are the fast street compound. The Yellow pads can be used on the street, but they are designed for track use. I had the Red pads before, but wasn’t really a fan.

I just put ebc reds on my tesla and I have yellows on my porsche.

The reds are great for no dust. I have not done any extreme driving on them but for spirit drives in a heavy car, I have been happy with the reds. And almost no dust.

The yellows have seen one track day in the rain and worked great. much better than stock and not much brake fade (ss lines and racing fluid as well). LOTS of dust from the yellows and they need a few good stops before they get to a working temperature. First early morning brake on the yellows is not great but they will work. No noise as well.

I usually run Hawk pads but wanted to try EBC. Not sure which way to go on the mini yet........

FYI, I have 2 piece girodiscs on those cars. I dont think that affects much except unsprung weight.

Don't bother with upgraded rotors, I doubt there'll be any noticeable change in braking ability whether solid or slotted or drilled. Even for the R56 JCW I could get zimmermann blanks for less than $200 for front and rear. For pads, I used EBC Yellows for street use and 2-3 annual track days, same experience as above commenters. If you're doing a couple track days I'd recommend them, otherwise probably don't need them

Go with solid rotors, EBC yellow pads, ss lines, and a real good dot4, I run ATE typ 200, and you should be fine. I daily this setup and my only complaint is brake dust. She does see some occasional dragon time and the brakes have been great there as well.
