Question about OEM/Purflux oil filter.

Hi there,

This is my first post here and I apologize if this is the incorrect location but please do let me know.

I'm going to do an oil change on my 2007 R56 Cooper (N12) soon and have been gathering all the required bits. Just received my Purflux L358A filter (same as the direct from OEM Mini dealer part) and noticed that one of the filter pleats looks a bit crushed and the pleats next to it have a bit of black mark. From looking on some photos online of the same filter, some others also have the same mark and crushed pleat. I'm not sure if this normal or if my filter is damaged since every other oil filter insert I've ever bought for other cars have a straight line design, not this wavy type design and I've never ever had anything similar to this before.

I'll leave some photos attached below.

Appreciate any information and help, thanks.

Kind Regards,
Chris

Normal. That's just the seam where the 2 sides are adhesed together. Motor on!

Yep, thats the OEM, just not in a Genuine MINI box. Normal in construction. I use that filter on my R58 all the time. Have 3 on the shelf at home.

Just received one yesterday. Looks identical, down to the black marks in the same location.
