Not trying to bash ECS here as I've ordered quite a bit from them, and they have been so far pleasant to deal with. I would love to hear from the vendor as well.
Is it common to receive items previously opened at retaped from ECS? I recently ordered a full set of rotors that arrived pretty dinged up. The rear set didn't even come in a box, just loosely packaged in the ECS shipping box. The front set came in a manufacturer box that was previously opened and retaped. I ordered a different set from Pelican Parts which was factory sealed and in perfect condition upon arrival—currently working on an RMA with ECS.
A week later, I ordered a vacuum pump, and the box was again previously opened and retaped. The manufacturer box is also chewed up all around with what appears to be a fluid stain coming from another dent. I haven't even opened this yet, but the whole experience has me wondering if this is someone else's return that they are selling to me as new.
Just saw this, the rotors are not used they come in palettes and i have seen that on some zimmerman and others rotors. Had a couple in the past get cracks from shipping palettes from overseas, they are heavy and when other vendors outside of ECS move them they can shift and drop, they dont get unboxed, so its hard to see sometimes. Get those on return and we can get a new set out.
Pieburg Pump might have been opened and inspected, we don't resell used parts as brand new, those go to scratch and dent if they are ok after inspection. If not they get scraped. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-scratch-and-dent-parts/
The problem is with all the MINI business we get people that use us like amazon return warehouse, returns a part and tell us they did not install it or just looked at it, or the repackage it poorly and send it back.
If you have a problem you can always PM and we can figure out a solution. Also good to PM a heads up as we can check stock to make sure we don't have people repeatedly return new (not installed), when it has been opened and shipped back poorly. Happens but rare. Then I can alert the warehouse.
Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry that people may abuse the return policy. Amazon has really skewed our expectations given how lax their polixy is. I was concerned that the last two orders arrived retaped. So for future reference, returned and inspected items are sold as new or as scratch and dent? If the latter, then I assume these may have been mispicked and packaged at the warehouse?
Yep, you are welcome. Yep it happens with people who are use to amazon return.
Came in new then inspected and them we tapped it up if the box is a little bad. Sold new. If they get inspected on a return then they go to scratch and dent or scrapped if determined unsellable. We try to catch them all. If a vendor drop ships then they don't come here sometimes and we don't see them and they can send one out from their warehouse. Its common in most business to drop ship so its quicker.
I don't want to say they do, however, I literally just received my retrofit Xenon kit from them and they sent a used left side unit with a broken top mount. How do i know it's used? The right side came with the Mini packaging on it and the left side came as a brown box with writing all over it referencing an order. I'm not complaining (yet), as I just emailed them tonight. I've had good luck with ECS so far, but I've had a couple of hiccups that I'm waiting on closure of.
Top right of the pic, you'll see the sheared off mounting point.
