R57 Increased battery discharge
Increased battery discharge
I kept getting an "increased battery discharge" warning. First took it to Autozone where they tested the battery and it came back that my voltage regulator was failing. Took it to a Mini Specialist who ran an OBD diagnostic and it said it was because the computer was trying to wake up the navigation system and it was causing my battery to drain while it was off. Problem is, I don't have a navigation system on my car....Why is it trying to wake up a feature my car does not have? Will simply getting a new battery fix it?
Hello, I have Nav and the smart system with IBS. So how the system works is with a New battery, you have to have the system flashed to reset the battery program. Schwaben scan tool can reset the battery IBS.
If the car was not reset then the battery will age quicker and the Nav system/all heavy optioned MINI will tend to drain the battery if it sets for a long time. AKA summer car only. You will need a trickle charger then when storing.
This is how i found my R58 JCW with a dead battery and the GM dealership made me a super deal on it as they though something else was wrong. They did not know how things worked on MINIs or any advanced system.
