^^^ Did those exist, at least within North American market specs? I thought all 1st Gen R50/R53 came standard with air conditioning (manual controls with auto AC being optional). BTW, welcome to NAM, with that being your first forum post!

I've considered an a/c delete but ultimately decided against it --- I lived for a very long time without a/c and now it feels like a luxury and I love it too much in the summer, perhaps I'm getting soft in my old age LOL that said, I may go ahead and buy one of those pulleys before they go NLA just so that option may be open in the future if I ever change my mind.
Drove an '86 Saab from 1991-2018, a/c was deleted early on so long time with no frosty, so much better aesthetically because the dumb compressor sat on top and just looked ugly, also made belt adjustment/changing easier too because the motor was 'backwards' with crank pully facing firewall, an interesting inline slant 4! Did a good bit of backdating in other areas too because I much preferred the older look.
A BaT car just for example to show compressor location, I was also able to obtain an early style evaporator (where the hoses are going bottom left in photo) delete panel which was metal as opposed to the more common cheap plastic kind...
...I was totally spoiled by learning how to wrench on Saabs, the Swedish engineers were brilliant as well as thoughtful, and the overall build quality was beyond bombproof tank, jumping 2 decades forward into a British BMW has been like Dante's Inferno in comparison! LOL
Yes. Thank you. I'm not an A/C guy. I like to have the engine bay as wide open as possible. Easier to work on. Less metal to capture heat. And, as you know, for a car like a Mini - added lightness is the key to having fun!

I just did my ac delete pulley a month or so ago.. I didn't have to pull forward the engine or anything like the videos all say.. I pried back the core support , unbolted the compressor and lifted it out through the top. I wish I woulda measured because I swear my belt fit abit less snug after the ac delete pulley , though it claims to be the same size. I'm not so sure, I swear I have an extra few mm of belt after.
living in Wisconsin, meh , ac isn't needed imo.. I can deal with heat FAR better than cold.
