Help me pick my clutch and decide which lsd , winter mods begin!
I will list my cars modifications at the end so you know why I'm want the spefic parts I do..
i need help picking out parts and if someone could give me a parts list such as which gaskets ect will need replacing ect plz post up.
I don't wanna do the valaeo conversion because I have my personal reasons and I've been advised to look into another option.. I've used an ebay clutch befor and it worked amazing for that car but that car was not a mini so does anybody have any feedback on one theve used ?
I wanna get a lightweight flywheel ( 14lb-17lb) and a stage 2x clutch. I know I will loose alittle driviability in stop and go traffic but that's completely fine as my car is an occasional driver / weekend warrior.
my cars current clutch and transmission have 0 issues but I feel like the clutch is getting pretty stiff so I wanna take this down time over the winter to do some more upgrades and this is the start if it all.. here are the 2x lsd's I have been looking at as well as the clutch I feel would suit my needs.
im also looking at budget minded clutchs becauseid like to invest in new gaskets such as oilpan gasket and new balljoints and ac delete pulley and new belt. Heres my mods and then the links to the parts i been eyeballing. Mods list is below parts links because its lengthy

Certain tasks you only want to do once. Swapping out a clutch, and installation of an LSD on a Mini fall into this catagory. I would steer clear of the Ebay stuff for this reason.
I did the Clutchmasters FX100 kit in my stage 2 Clubman, and I've been very happy with it. Streetable, and zero slip on full power. The clutch I picked for you is their FX300 kit, which should give you a bit more bite. Also, the aluminum flywheel will make the engine super responsive.
For LSD, I went with the MFactory, and I wish I had splurged a little bit more for the Quaife, only because the Quaife is popular in the UK. With a mechanical LSD, maintenance will also be very low. Change the gear oil every 25,000 miles, and rock-n-roll.

could you re-link the parts , I couldn't open the links or copy and paste..
also can you tell me what the advantages of the qualifiqualfie v the getrag are?? They look like the exact same piece and specs from what I could find are the same..
I'm really not looking to spend that much on this job either or other things get looked over due to lack of money..
I will definitely consider a more expensive clutch and flywheel but my lsd have come down to the 2x I've posted.
I 100% get not fully trusting Ebay stuff but Ebay stuff is either a hit or miss..and if it's 1/3 the price and warrentied , I absolutely have no problem trying it and if it sucks removing it,returning it and throwing In better name brand parts..
My time and labor is free so that's why I am willing to try budget oriented things 1st and if they suck , atleast I can advise others to not waste their time.. but to just say that because it's sold on ebay it sucks or isnt any good isnt fair.. wmw sells Certain things off ebay even as well as other vendors of this site and lol buying them off ebay can be cheaper sometimes because of free shipping..
but if I can get namebrand stuff for not too much more money and if it can fit in the budget, i absolutely would..but every dollar that can be saved here can be invested there..
naaaaa , I may smoke but keeping old butts and ash inside a vehicle I NEVER do. Even though I smoke I rarely do in my mini and it's religiously cleaned. You can't smell one hint of smoke or anything.
Just go to the Clutchmasters website and search for R53. I linked the aluminum flywheel and the FX300 kit to be sued with their single mass flywheel.
True, not everything on Ebay is crap, but I certainly wouldn't buy a clutch kit from Ebay. No telling WHAT you might receive. Also, I would sooner buy direct from WMW or other vendor, than through their Ebay store. Send my funds direct to the vendor, instead of giving a percentage to Ebay.

ok I will check them out.. I'm sure the ebay wouldn't last as long either but if I could say get 5yr & 30k miles out of it. I would be happy.
With that long list of parts and mods you've already spent a tone on the car. So cheeping out on important parts like a clutch and diff is like getting a date with a supermodel then taking her to McDonalds and hoping it works out.
For sure go with the Quaife LSD as they are by far the best and 100% reliable and why they come with a lifetime warranty. A diff failure is more than just replacing it as usually it will take out the trans with it when it fails. https://www.waymotorworks.com/quaife...ferential.html
As for the clutch pick your poison as race clutches are for racing, not daily use and won't last on the street.
I was told to avoid the Valeo with my mods and power..I was told unless I wanna deal with non stop chattering and high boost slipping to avoid it so I'm going to follow that advice.. and this is advice is from 2x people who've both recently done the Valeo clutch conversion.
I'm leaning towards this act clutch as they are a very good brand from all ive ever heard and read... i will do somemore digging though..
but can anyone tell me what's the difference between the lsd I posted and the qulafie ?? Honestly, I swear they're the exact same thing ,one just has a few extra brandnames lazer etched on it...other than that I'm seeing abd reading no difference but I will try to find more technical info such as percentage of lockup or what ever I can find..
im gonna take your guys adviceand not cheap out on the clutch and flywheel..though i wish the act flywheelwas as light as the ebay ones can get ( 4-6lb difference) but maybe it's for a reason the better brand ones don't come with as light of a flywheel..I know a heavier flywheel can help drivability and all but light revs faster so maybe they know the sweet spot..idk , I wish more people posted up with results of aftermarket parts they use..
is the qufie lsd a helical style lsd ???
clutchmasters.com is screwing them selves , if they cant even keep their online site up and running i cant inagine how they deal with orders...geez ,how long can a site be down for ?
and i cant find the weight of the clutch masters aluminum flywheel or the act streeetlite steel flywheel , neither I can find the weight listing..I want the lightest of the 2x.
The Quaife is a mechanical gear style LSD, so there is no lock up percentage. Lock up is only a factor with clutch style LSD. That’s why I recommended the Quaife, and the reason it needs no maintenance. The clutch style LSDs will need rebuilding after so many miles, whereas a gear style will not. The biggest difference between gear style LSDs are in how the internal gears are designed to transfer torque. I suggest watching a bunch of YouTube videos to learn how gear/helical LSDs work.

thx but I'm aware of how they work and the difference.. this is why I keep asking what's the difference between the qualfie and the getrag. Theyre both helical design and everything else I see is the same too..
what I don't get is why one is 2x the price of the other one ? I'm trying to find whats making it so much more expensive, like is there something the getrag cheaps out on ? Idk but I'm determined to find out..
So now I think lol I'm leaning towards exedy clutch kit , it's comes with the flywheel and everything..
I contacted partsgeek and they can't verify which flywheel I need to or can use with their act clutch soooo , they loose business my business then. Lol parts supplier that has no clue about the parts they sell , figures.
so if I can't find forsure whst flywheel I can use with the act clutch ille probably just buy this kit from m7 , it's alot more than i was looking to soend on a clutch and flywheel but you guys are absolutely rite. You get what you pay fir with a clutch and it's not one area I can chinse out on. Soooo looks like I'm going to need to sell a few more bmw v12 throttlebody kits in order to afford this. So them dang custom made intake tubes NEED to hurry up and get here..

The ebay link you gave for the Tema4x4 place in Dubai is selling an NRF brand product, apparently made in Russia and little info to be found.
The other place is offering a Blackline brand product which is a made-in-china copy of the Quaife unit, and there's a good bit more info out there about it,
the most informative thread I found is this one on a Z4 forum:
The buyer felt it necessary to disassemble because the unit needed de-burring,
so that's one area where the manufacturer deffo cheaped out in finishing quality.
I'm in the Quaife camp as far as what I run and it has been headache-free, but I do understand budgetary constraints and there are other options out there, just a matter of research I reckon, trying to find enough positive reports to make you feel comfortable enough to gamble on the hope of it being just as good or whatever.
I would steer clear of anything made in Russia right now, for obvious reasons. Also, China copies of legit products are a carp shoot for what you'll get.
Again, something like a diff and clutch, I'd rather spend a bit more and do it once, than cheap out and do it twice for more than the cost of the quality product.
Just was offered a SCREAMING GOOD deal on a clutchmasters aluminum lightweight flywheel so soon as I can afford I will be ordering the 03050 hdkv d clutchmasters clutch to go with it then... I do appreciate you guys pointing me in the rite direction once again.. I'm sure ille be praising you once it's in..lol
anyways can somebody help me think of a parts list now for things I should and things I NEED to replace while the subframe is out.. I have no clue what internally the trans is gonna need new.. and btw unless the qulafie lsd goes on sale or I get a good coupon to use on one , chances are I'm going with the getrag lsd..

I will definitely keep this in mind.. I will do all I can to afford a quaife i will.. i will have to sell off the 3in intake setups i put together soon as they arrive.. if i can sell them befor i need to do this job i will be able to get the better lsd then too along with this better name brand clutch n flywheel. I'm also going to buy oem throw out bearing and seals along with the clutch fork thingy my buddy had mentioned..
Isn't it common to have some burrs and that's why you always change the fluid after 500 miles ? Atleast back in the day with the rwd cars I put together that was the case.. I'd used for racing 410 8.8rear end gear sets and that was typical of them..but again , better safe than sorry and I like the piece of mind knowing my cars solid.
that's a BIG reason I finally pulled the trigger on a gpr tensioner for my Sprintex sc..

>Unexplained metal object inside it, in my way, very annoying
>Will humans never learn the proper order of things...

For what it's worth, I love my quaife. I bought it in 2020 when supply issues were a problem. I couldn't find one in the US, so I ended up ordering it from Orrange in the UK. I want to say it came with the bearings already pressed on, and you don't have to pay VAT. Between the VAT, the exchange rate, and not having to pay for the bearings, it turned out to be the cheapest option, and I want to say it took less than a week to get it into my hands.i paid $800 usd delivered

lololol , YUP.. he thinks everything we do is for him..
I rearrange my living room and get the fireplace fixed n cleaned and setup for the wife to come home to as an early Xmas present and lolol , of course . Felix ( my cat ) is the 1st to lay RITE in front and claim his spot. Lol he also takes showers with me and when I feed our fish , he hangs his paws IN the tanks and reaches all the way in to swat at the fish. Hahaha ,he's only fallen COMPLETELY in 4x times sofar. But he likes water. Lol I tried using a spray bottle to keep him off counters and when I spray him , lololol he begins purring and trying to eat the water as it hits him like a dog.
