F54 Normal Coolant Temperature
Normal Coolant Temperature
Does anyone have any guidance for normal coolant temp on a completely stock base F54?
Background for question:
I'd been experiencing a 1B8302 error code, related to the EAC sensor in the radiator. Fix = new radiator. With lots of swearing, I got that done over the weekend. It went in with as few hitches as I could manage. Coolant was refilled with a coolant vacuum refiller. I pulled a vacuum, let it sit for a couple of minutes to ensure that there were no leaks (there did not appear to be) and refilled.
Since then I've been watching my coolant temperature. I should have tested what it was running at before doing the service, but I'm a dumb-dumb so I don't have a before/after comparison. The coolant temps I'm seeing feel a bit high. I'm seeing temps that can tip-toe over 220F, and then come down to the 205-210F range. This is not during hard driving in hot outdoor temperatures. Coolant was the standard Mini coolant, mixed 50/50. I'm not getting any warnings on the dash, and I'm monitoring via OBD2.
So, am I being paranoid? Or am I running too hot? If too hot, should I be looking @ the thermostat? If so, does anyone have a write-up or video?

Interested in the answer(s) too!
I THINK we may have variable thermostat functions, depending upon if the car is in Green Mode or Sport. Green Mode would allow a higher water temp, Sport would be cooler. What those differences would be? 10 degrees, 20 degrees? I don't know.
