Engine Air Filters

Hi all,

I’m thinking about purchasing an aftermarket replacement engine air filter and looking into ITG or K&N to get a little more airflow into the engine.

What are your thoughts on replacement air filters from these companies or any others you may know about?

Complete waste of your money. Your car was designed to use the factory air filter does not require additional air flow to the engine. Spend your money on a nice dinner with the family.

I put a K&N on my 2016 Cooper S and there were no issues. I never priced out against OEM, I just like the K&N filters on my vehicles.

I also did the same with the cabin filter. I never was able to get the cover back on that!

Snake oil

Do a used oil analysis and you'll see the issue as silicon will increase. K&N filters are less efficient
causing less dirt/dust retention. Silicon results in increased engine wear thus making for more oil
use and less power in the long run.
That said there's no power increase to be expected and cleaning a K&N isn't a worthwhile job at all.
Same with ITG and many others. Don't waste your precious money.

Do you feel any difference with the K&N?

Thank you all for the responses and information about the filters. I’ve made the decision to save the money and not purchase one.

Have a great holiday and happy motoring

Rich
