What a joke.

"Want an amazing car? Don't want to wait for 12 months or pay $10,000 above sticker? Assume the rights to purchase the car I have on order. Chili Red with Black stripes, nav system, black leather/accents/interior, premium stereo...the works! I've decided to keep the 2003 Cooper S I now own and love.

Interested? Drop me a line and I'll share the delivery date (projected) and purchase price...you won't be sorry!

Thanks!"

Yup Earl in some parts of Amerika like the PacNW and SW--esp at dealers who don't mark up over MSRP--it's still tops out at around a year for an S. Used to approach 24 months, so the wait has dropped a tad. Some dealers have even stopped taking new customer orders and are selling solely from their allotments. Way too much demand, way too few cars, and BMW ain't uppin' the numbers. Huzzah. Jimbo

Same true here in So Cal. Placed MCS order in June last year, 2005 MCS to arrive mid to late March. Long Beach Mini sells at MSRP though, one of only two Mini dealers in CA who do so from what I understand.

$3K for the rights to buy the car? That's a bunch of BS. People will just stoop so low to make a buck.

Call Classic MINI, you'll even get $500 off the car.

Here in Maryland, my Motoring Associate is selling cars to people in California. We have about a two month wait here, zero MSRP markup. In California, 18 month wait and 4-6K over MSRP.

Avoiding that would be worth a road trip for me! Plus, by the time you hit Kansas, you've already broken in your car!

Actually there are places in Northern and Southern Cal selling at MSRP, and the wait isn't 18 monthes. There are also alternative dealers closer then MD. But whatever works for them. I wouldn't mind the drive either, but not at this time of year!

I ordered mine 9 March 03 and took delivery on 29 July 03 exactly as ordered at MSRP.. still grinning
If I understand this correctly this guy is charging $3,000.00 bucks to take over his order. If it weren't for instant gratification some people wouldn't get any. Do I think this is BS......... YES
PS this site is broke tonight it's so sloooooow..

I ordered my '05 MCS on Aug. 21, 2004. It finished production in Oxford on Sep. 16, 2004. I picked it up on Oct. 16, 2004. If I were you, I'd go to a different dealer. Heck i had to get mine out of my own state!
