17" R98 & R90 JCW Brake Clearance Confusion

Hey Everyone! I've done some searching on this topic and I feel like the information is conflicting and confusing. I have an '06 Factory JCW and want to get either R90 or R98 wheels. But I'm noticing through ECS Tuning that R90s and R98s say "Not for vehicles with 17" John Cooper Works Sport Brake." In fact I saw someplace where a 25mm spacer was required. Then I saw elsewhere that they do fit without issue? Unfortunately, I do not have any local connections to try fitment. Can anyone provide a quick and confirmed response to this by chance? I appreciate the help!

If you have an R53 JCW, then your brakes are effectively the same as R56 S brakes. The JCW brake clearance comments relate to the R56 4-pot JCW or 6-pot GP2 brake calipers. Either of those wheels should fit fine without spacers over your R53 JCW brakes.

Beautiful!!!!!!!! That's exactly what I needed and makes complete sense now. The R56 talk is what was throwing me off. Thank you so much.
