Parts for Basic to NBT Evo swap

Hey guys!

First of all, I am sorry if my english isnt perfect.
I ve got a question about a radio/navigation swap: So my Mini Ccooper F56 04/18 got that boring standard radio in there and I got curious about those 8,8“ screens and I started browsing... I ve found a used one (HW4.1) including the touch controller and head unit from a F56 JCW... now my problem is: which cables do I need to make it work? And after it was fit in my Mini, how do I program the it to fit my Mini?

Thanks

My 2015 has the basic 4 line radio as well (but with the Harman/Kardon upgrade). The wiring harnesses are different between the cars with the larger display screen and the basic display, so they are not plug and play. Also, the physical dashboard is different inside, so switching out the displays is not so easy and will not fit correctly. Finally, the cars will not always recognize options they are not built with, even if coding is attempted. I know a couple of people have managed to do this, but it is very expensive. An option that would have cost $500 or $1200 when the car was new could end up costing $3000-$4000 after the fact.

Thanks for the reply!
Okay I see, seems hard to do tho. But isn't there an option for adapters and so on to make it work? It's really hard to believe if one never saw it :/ Maybe there is a cheaper way to do it.
I mean a dealer in my region is offering the swap for about 2.8k€, some other dudes who are doing it want like 1.8k€, so it shouldn't be THAT hard.

My main problem is, that I am lacking know how in coding on a vehicle, if I could find proper documentation it wouldn't be such a big deal for me ig.
I'll keep searching tho, hope someone else can share their knowledge with me!

There are non-MINI updates available out in the marketplace.

Here is just one such option, to get you started. https://www.carnaviplayer.com/mini-c...ad-unit-p-1149

I see, but I want the parts to be original BMW/Mini parts, nothing third party for the moment. If it cant be done with those parts I‘ll just try to be happy with my radio as it is

Ok, i did this retrofit in a couple of cars.

You basically need:
1x wifi antenna
1x gps antenna
1x wiring harness which does the following:
Power the led ring, and makes it possible to work
Make the buttons underneath the screen work
Communication between screen and ring
So it connects to he bdc, buttons behind the screen, ihka (airco controls), screen (power), ring

see sample:

the harness must be installed to make all functions work!
1x leech from kcan from behind the quadlock to the idrive controller you need to install.
1x new mid console because your might not have the opening for the idrive controller.

allot of knowledge about the car is required because you are going to change wiring
coding/flashing is required...

ooh and patience

thx for the reply!

Seems like a lot of stuff to do… what do I need for coding? Which software is required and is there any documentation about all that coding?

Thank you
