Mini R56: "Mk II" Mini Hatch/Hardtop range 2006 - 2010
Description:

I bought my first mini a 2008 R56 turbo six speed it had a over heating problem and I got it for $550 in nice condition.  I bought over $2000 in parts and tools for a rebuild , when I got the engine all apart it was like new condition inside . I took the head and had it surfaced as it was not warped . When I got the rest of the block torn down I found a cracked cylinder wall . I'm looking for a bare block in good rebuildable condition.

Have you contacted a local shop to see if they can replace the sleeve? I had to contact a few before I found an engine machine shop that was willing to do it.

you can change the sleeve on the N14 blocks , i had one changed when the walls got scratched from a cyl melting , if yours is cracked it might be best to look for another block , but be careful , ive thrown away a few N14 blocks , once you hone it , theres to many imperfections in the walls and the rings just wont seal properly...
these engines are garbage in every way shape or form , from the design point of view , and from the materials they used to build them

Hey that’s my old R56! It was crushed from behind by some idiot in a truck. Wish I could the Breyton GTS-R’s back.
