R53 Fuel Gauge showing incorrect reading

Hello! I have a 2004 R53 with the digital gas gauge. I recently changed the fuel filter and now my gas gauge is stuck in the middle and only moved one or two blocks in either direction. I have verified that my float and fuel filter assembly was reinstalled correctly.

I read somewhere that this will fix itself over time but that doesn't appear to be the case. I ran test 6 on the computer but don't quite understand what I'm looking at - Photos are attached. Can someone help tell me what these readings mean? Does this look normal? I think the car is getting data output from both sides of the tank but I could be wrong. The test breakdown I read was a little confusing.

I have pretty much the same issue, it will show a faulty reading after filling it up and levels back over time (within 10 mins or so). The gauge consists of 2 measurements, one from the pump and one from the fuel filter (averaged out)

My fuel gauge has been broken for a few years now, constantly showing empty... I've since changed the fuel pump (it died) and checked that the float on the filter side is not stuck. Still broken. Haven't really bothered to look much further, as there have been bigger issues, lol.

Anyway, here's a piece of documentation about the test screens I had copied from somewhere (most likely from nam actually):

6.0 Actual amount of fuel in tank. eg. 123321 =12,3liters left 32,1 liters right
6.1 Total amount of fuel in tank.
6.2 Show value of Fuel guage. 1= both senders OK, 2= sender failure, 3=ti signal unplausible (no reading)
On mine the right side amount never changes, but left side amount moves about even if I just rock the car by hand. Now if someone could confirm if right and left are from looking at the car from the front, or from sitting in the car... so in the example is 12,3 liters the pump side?

Also on mine I remember test 6.2 showing just "3". It's been a while tho, need to re-check.

Interesting - So based on what you posted, the right side of the tank (fuel filter side) is reading almost zero. I wonder if the float that attaches to the fuel filter housing fell off when I reinstalled it. I will have to check but it didn't seem to clip on very strong when I was working on it last.

Thanks for the info - Will report back after pulling it back out of the tank.
