i think the MINI branded one is actually a Yakima box

 

Thule is BMW/MINI's supplier. The box lid is a custom molding but the hardware is Thule.

I may be wrong, but the Thule replacement keys I ordered for our MINI box worked perfectly.

(Also, to my amusement, OP's image is a photo of my spouse's Countryman. And my old R55 behind it.)
