Still not the 302 HP engine...

This car needs the same drivetrain as the Clubbie-JCW.

As with just about any refresh; some good, some bad.

Not unless it gets a manual.

MINI has never been about outright performance. It's about fun, and the Countryman JCW I drove was quick, but not THAT fun. Certainly not $50k fun, IMO.

Agreed that they can both be fun. My point is that they shouldn’t switch to the 300hp for the “regular” JCW if it will be auto only like the Clubman and Countryman.

If they offer a manual, too, then ok. Auto only? That’s a mistake on the JCW.

Manual vs Auto and 300hp

I sold my lasr MINI, a '19 Orange Edition. It was just an Aisin 6sp, but the transmission shifted really quick. My experience with manual MINIs(I have owned two) is that the revs stay high too long when upshifting and it's also a problem when double clutch downshifting. Just my experience and observation. And from what I have read, the torque of the GP3 creats horrible torque steer problems. I had that in my '08 S manual and did not enjoy it. My '13S had a program that eliminated the problem, and my '15S and '19 JCW didn't have the problem. Apparently, the torque level of the GP3 is too high for their fixes.

MF article says Mini will stop offering leather seats with the Gen4 models. Gotta be "sustainable" Get 'em while you still can!

Remember the GP3 doesn't have All4, it's totally FWD unlike my Clubman and the Countryman JCW. That gets rid of the torque steer (I don't notice it).
