My daughter recently bought a 2006 R52. The convertible top fabric allows water in on both sides in the same areas. The area is just above the gas door (both sides). There is a gap and it appears the fabric was at one time glued to the body on the inside but now is not attached to anything. Can someone recommend a glue that would be good to bond the fabric to the body? Thanks. Gap between fabric and body. Gap between fabric and body.
Thanks for the quick reply. So what is the correct approach? Should it not be glued in that area? I did notice there was a "gutter" just inside the body area where water could possibly drain. But using a garden hose I saw where some water spilled out. Just seems risky to electricals to leave it open. I was hoping someone with an R52 could post pics of this area on a proper top. Cheers!
are you in the US? You don't have 'where' in your profile and user name suggests not ......
IF in US I'd suggest finding a place that specializes in convert' tops near you. If you are in a significant metropolitan area there should be several around (often also an auto <and boat> upholstery shop)
p.s. a TON of water passes thru the inside of the body panels and drains out ...... it is when the water goes places not 'designed for' or when drains get plugged you have problems.
and btw have owned convert's most of my life since first car in 73 ... a 66 Mustang rag top ..... then: 93 VW Rabbit 'Vert, 95 Miata, 15 R59 Roadster , and daughter has a '19 Cooper soft top.
